Let’s hope Skokie never sees a real disaster like the mock disaster of May 31st. That’s when emergency crews reacted to a pretend major emergency. Rush North Shore Medical Center was one of 40 area hospitals that played the what-if-game: What if a 16-wheeler hit a train carrying hydrogen sulfide liquid and released dangerous chemicals into the air in downtown Chicago? Skokie Review reporter Mike Isaacs interviews Rita George, Rush North Shore Medical Center’s Emergency Management Coordinator and talks about how these drills help the community get ready for the real thing.
